Thomas Kenney is the founder and principal attorney at Kenney Family Law. He is certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in family law. His practice concentrates on family law litigation. He has extensive experience advocating for clients with complex financial issues, including those arising from executive compensation structures, valuation of businesses and professional practices, and the characterization and division of marital assets. Thomas’ trial experience also includes litigating complicated spousal and child support matters, breaches of fiduciary duties between spouses, child custody, domestic violence, and reproductive rights issues.
He regularly appears before public and private judges in San Mateo, San Francisco, and Santa Clara counties. He also acts as a consulting attorney for clients who pursue mediation or try to resolve their divorce directly with the other spouse. In all matters, Thomas relies on his own breadth of professional experience in addition to a wide range of expert resources in fields such as tax, financial planning, accounting, and estate planning.
Thomas has practiced family law exclusively since 2007. From 1994 to 1998, he served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps infantry. He was stationed with the Marine Corps Security Force Company, London from 1995 to 1996, and with 1st Battalion, 1st Marines in Camp Pendleton, CA from 1996 to 1998, including a deployment to the Persian Gulf from 1997-98.
